Day11 Thu 04/07 - First Day Riding Out From Vancouver To Lion Bay

After spending about a week in Vancouver in 2 Warmshower homes and ex classmate house,today started my 1st serious riding to Lion Bay crossing the famous Lion Gate Bridge into West Vancouver, following the Marine Drive along the coast to avoid the very steep hills. The bike lane ends in Horse Shoe Bay and switching my ride into the Route 99 or Sea to Sky Highway. The weather is super hot although it recorded only at 75g degree F ( 24C ). Stopping several times to rest while eating 2 hard boiled eggs courtesy from Mayse. Route 99 is a 4 lane 2 ways highway with a broad road shoulder for bicycles. On the right side of the road is rock cliff and the left is the Sea. My Warmshower host Jon came to meet me when i was resting by the roadside, and he leads me to his house in Lion Bay. Overall quite an enjoyable 1st day ride,of course quite tiring with all the rolling slopes with a full load bike. Jone n Larissa prepared a pasta dinner but i was too tire to follow them to the beach,I needed a good rest for tomorrow.

Day 08/9/10 Wed 3/7 - Riding to Meet my Ex-Classmate Ended Staying 3 nights

 Today program was rather unexpected as i did not plan this earlier. My secondary school classmate Mayse 美英 called me on my moblie phone and invited me to visit her which was not very far away from scot house. Its only about 7km. So bidding farewell to Scot and his friend, I am on my way to another house,arrived by noon with a warm welcome lunch at a Mall, and later followed by a Cantonese restaurant dinner.Mayse and hubby was very friendly and treated me like brother with some home cooked foods which i loved so much. Ended up, I stayed 3 nights here,totally like home.Thanks Mayse and hubby.

Day 07 30/6 -- Taking My Bike for a Ride Around the Neighborhood

Today is my 3rd day staying in Scot house and tomorrow morning I will be leaving while Scot will be out for a ride. I took my bike out for a spin after some minor adjustments and lubing, overall i am happy with her performance. Later by 6.30pm, i walked for about 2km to the nearby town to have my dinner,feeling very hungry and wanted very much to eat rice,somewhat tired of eating only bread and potatoes chips. There is one Chinese restaurant i noticed but were full of people,speaking in Cantonese,the waiter have difficulty to find me a table when you are alone, so told the waiter its ok I will go to other places. There are many Vietnamese staying in this region and doing restaurant business. Eventually I have a vietnamese street food meal of Beef soup rice with some salads and a glass of green tea for a total cost of $18.10 after gst 5% tax. Overall happy with the meal and rice that I am looking for.Weather have been good so far,sunshine during the day wearing just my t-shirt/short, but a bit cold at night with my jacket on. Hopefully good weather continues to last. Looking forward tomorrow to meet my ex classmate not far from Scot house.
